Project design of the Medical Academy



general

The German IB Medizinische Akademie Stuttgart is a competent partner in vocational training for health allied professions, which maintains and runs approximately 40 schools all over Germany.


concept

The here available concept of the Medical Academy pursues a new strategy in the training by occupations in the medical range. The Basic-Modul will be offered by 6 months and directly afterwards the special training courses in the most diverse professions will follow for 30 months.

Basic-Modul

In the Basic Module the English and PC knowledge of the students will be supposed deepened and at the same time they will be supported in their decision making for a profession choice. Beside informations about the local health-, health care- and social system also informations about different occupations in the medical sector is content of the Basics Modul. Likewise introductions to medical, psychological and sociological basic knowledge will belong to it. Teaching subjects are anatomy, physiology, biology, pathology, medical terminology, pharmacology, first aid, hygiene, paedagogics, sociology, psychology. Introduction and training to PC and english language is obligatory.

Because most training in the range of the health specialized occupations develop on these basic subjects, in the Medical Academy these subjects of instruction are summarized and informed together for all students.

There will be the possibility for about 100 students to participate on the Basic-Modul with consideration of the conditions for entrance and after passing the registration.

special training

At the end of the Basic-Modul the student decides for one of the offered professions in the range of the medical health. The training in the individual professions takes place separately in classes with each 20-25 persons in the following 30 months and ends with the exam.

The successfully passed exam entitles for carrying the appropriate job title.

Until local guidelines for the examinations are created, one will proceed. in accordance with the German test orders. It is still straight examined whether for the interrim phase the German Ministry of Economic Affairs will maybe take over the patronage for the vocational training courses in the Medical Academy. We´ll try to receive worldwide acceptance for the diplomas of the Medical Academy.

The following professions could be offered in the Medical Academy: nursing, child nursing, midwife, medical technical radiological assistant, medical technical assistant for laboratory, pharmazeutic technical assistant, diaet assistant, operational assistant, occupational therapy, logopaedy, "Heilerziehungspflege" (=care for handicapped people), physiotherapy, doctors assistant and others more. Every year one or two new professions will be taken up to the offer of the academy.

The special training in the different professions covers theoretical and practical instruction, as well as practical training, which takes place in the hospital or at other places of work. The students are trained during their practical training by examined professionals and are visited and informed regularly by instructors of the academy.

The number of lessons and the curriculum are exactly fixed for each profession and are oriented at the German training guidelines.

Aligning the local training guidelines in the Medical Academy to the German training and test regulations guarantees an adjustment to the high German quality standard of the individual trainings.

Also at the number, the selection and the equipment of the rooms and with the selection of the instructors is the Medical Academy oriented at the German guidelines.

participants

With the academy start in the first year, there will be taken up 120 students in the beginning, because we assume that around 20 students will leave the academy or will quit the studies in the first weeks.

After 6 months BASIC, the students will separate in 4 classes with in each case around 25 students.

Every year there could start 25 till 50 students more than the year before, because the offer on professions becomes larger (plus one or two profession more every year).

For every profession there are in the same time 3 classes parallel running in the academy, but only 2 classes are present in the academy-rooms. The third class spents their time in the practical training in the hospital or other places.

For the initial phase we have one big lecture hall with around 120 places to teach the BASIC-Modul for all the students together, but there are separate entrances and places for women and men.

After 6 months the students will be splitted in small classes of each maximum 25 students for the different professions. They are sex separated. Each class has its own classroom. There will be 1 class for nursing, 1 class for medical technologists, 1 class for physiotherapy and 1 class for doctor´s assistants.

Beside the class-rooms, there are specially equipped teaching-rooms for demonstrations and the practical teaching.

Each student brings his/her own laptop to the academy. Technically is the academy on a high-standard equipped, in each teaching-room there is radio equipment.

A library with InterNet-places and a cafeteria for the students is present, just like different rooms in a separate administration-building for the heads of the departments, for the teaching-staff and for the secretaries.
